Continued Rugby Success for TC

Posted: 12th November 2018

Tettenhall College’s excellent rugby season with more good results.

The 1st XV registered a comprehensive away win at Nottingham and the U11s won two games in a tournament at Wolverhampton Grammar.

Lawrence Sutton writes –

On Saturday the 10th of November, the 1st XV rugby team played Nottingham High School at home. The game was thrilling from start to end and completely in TC’s favour. There was great inter-play between Cameron Watson and Joe McKaig setting up five trys between the two of them. Other try scorers were Sulayman Aurangzeb, Lawson Billingsley, Jimmy Hague and Lawrence Sutton. Overall the game was powerful and displayed great skill resulting in a 68-5 win for TC.

Year 6 pupil Charlie Welch writes on the U11 tournament –

On a wet Wednesday, we went to a rugby tournament at WGS. We won our first game 3 tries to 0 against Lichfield, with our tackling ensuring a clean sheet. Oscar Ward scored two, and Alfie Horne scored the other.

We lost our next game against a very strong Winterfold side. Not to be disheartened, we won our next game 4 tries to 3 against Shrewsbury High, with Rajan Atwal, Alfie Horne, Oscar Ward and myself scoring. Tom Curtis stood out with his tackling during that match and Ronny Ray-Davies did some great attacking runs too.

Our final match was against a feisty and aggressive Blue Coats side. We lost despite some brave performances, especially Dylan Jarzebowski. Over all, we are happy with our performances, although there is always plenty of room for improvement. A very well done to all Year 4 players, Daral Kue, Joe Harris, Ronny Ray-Davies and Tom Curtis, they played exceptionally well.
